Long ago, an angel named Ira served as a guardian angel in God's Kingdom. God gave him a strong, beautiful voice that could make anyone stop and listen. Ira used it daily to entertain and delight.At one time, Ira loved his job and worked well alongside God and the other angels, including God's most beautiful, Lucifer (whom Ira nicknamed "Luci"). Ira and Luci were close friends, and they privately discussed what Luci believed were God's unreasonable rules. Lucifer decided he would confront God about his iron-fist leadership, but this resulted in the infamous war that broke out in God's Kingdom. After intense negotiations, all angels were required to pick a side. As punishment, all angels who rebelled fell, and two classes were made. Those who sided with Lucifer were labeled "Demons" and banished to the Underworld, Lucifer's new domain. Angels who didn't pick a side were called "Fallen" and were forced to stay on Earth as angel/demon-human hybrids.Since Ira was known to be close to Luci, he was banished to the Underworld. This infuriated him and started his rocky on-again-off-again relationship with Luci. By this time, Luci had declared himself leader of all the demons. He became drunk with power as he ordered all demons to be part of his harem, Ira included. Ira wasn't keen on it, but went along anyway, with no choice.Soon, God created the Earth, and its first residents arrived: Adam and Eve. Once the Garden of Eden fell and Adam and Eve multiplied, Luci ordered all demons to go to Earth to corrupt humans and stop any angel activity. This rubbed Ira the wrong way, but he complied because he had nowhere else to go. Ira's once angelic voice was now used to persuade humans away from a holy life. At first, it was a fun change of pace, and Ira soon became an expert in seduction.
But then, centuries had passed. Ira saw humanity fall, only to rise again as Earth's inhabitants. Though Ira was fine with his duty as a demon, deep down, he grew sympathetic toward humans and their way of life. He also found life on Earth much more interesting, as humans had God-given free will, while Luci treated Ira as nothing more than a common worker. By this point, Luci had become a tyrant; the very kind he criticized God for being.Having had enough, Ira rebelled. A nasty argument ensued between Ira and Luci, and Ira pointed out Luci's hypocrisy. Luci angrily banished Ira to Earth. Now a fallen angel, Ira woke up cold and alone on a city street. There, he felt human wants, such as thirst, for the first time. He was so thirsty that he dug through a trash can to find anything to drink. He found half a bottle of wine and drank it, savoring its flavor. That was what started his love of wine and alcohol.With nowhere else to go, he decided to start from scratch and make a new life for himself on Earth. He needed an identity to blend in with human society. After scrounging up enough loose change, he picked out designer clothes from a thrift store to look more presentable: a red sweater, a long coat, black pants, and dress shoes. All that was left was a new name…"Ira" was his God-given name, meaning "watchful." Feeling he no longer deserved that name, he bought a Baby Name Dictionary at the same thrift store where he bought his clothes. He was first struck by the name "Ambrose," meaning "immortal." Though he now had a human form and wouldn't live forever, he promised he'd live as if he did. While the idea of no longer living forever secretly terrified him, finding the name "Cole," which meant "victory," assured him.Cole Ambrose was reborn.
